SmartWatch Advantages

Smartwatches are capable of doing many things that smartphones cannot. Smartwatches can track your heart rate, activity, and overall fitness level. Smartwatches offer many benefits, including the ability to listen to music and use your phone for payment.

After using smartwatches for many years, I decided to research the actual benefits of these devices. What are the advantages of smartwatches, you ask? Smartwatches allow for easy access to many smartphone apps and provide sensor data such as heart rate monitoring or sleep tracking that isn’t possible on smartphones. Smartwatches, which are wristwatches that can be used as wearable computers, provide more functions than just timekeeping. These watches often integrate with your smartphone to show your incoming calls and message and other apps that provide additional functionality such as weather information or maps for directions.

Smartwatches are an extension of your smartphone that shows some content, but not the whole thing. Smartwatches also have different sensors that can be used for health and fitness tracking. Smartwatches may include GPS, Heart Rate Monitoring, Step counting, GPS, and Heart Rate Monitoring.
Smartwatch vs Smartphone

While smartphones can do most of the same things as smartwatches, smartwatches are more suited to certain tasks depending on the situation. It’s easier to use your smartwatch to check your notifications while driving or riding a bike than to reach for your phone. You can see the name of an incoming caller, for instance, before you answer the phone using your Bluetooth headset. Although smartphones have GPS built in, it may be easier to bring your smartphone along to run than to use the GPS built into your 智能手錶 to track your distance and speed.

Smartwatches can also do things your smartphone doesn’t, such as heart rate monitoring. The Heart Rate measurement functionality is great for sports, and it doesn’t require me to wear a chest band like years ago. The wrist has been able to measure the Hear Rate with great accuracy. It tracks my activity throughout the day, so I can push myself to use the stairs rather than the lift. It also tracks your heartbeat and movement, which allows you to see information about your sleep quality and time. This can be very helpful and help you get to sleep on time.
Smartwatches Waterproof

Smartwatches can be used in many situations and are waterproof. My smartwatch is always with me when I go swimming, do water sports or enter the sauna. Although some smartphones are waterproof, it would be awkward to use a smartphone while swimming. Apart from telling me the time, I also like to track my swim duration. Some devices can also measure distance and heart beat while swimming.

What functions does a smartwatch perform?

Smartwatches offer a variety of functions. Let’s look at some of these functions. There are many smartwatches that have more apps and functions than others. It is not expected that all smartwatches will have the same features.
1. Time-related features

This one is obvious. It’s a watch, after all. It’s much easier to see the time, date, and weekday on a watch than on a smartphone.

Many smartwatches include a Stopwatch. It is comparable to the stopwatches on most smartphones, but can be used without a smartphone. It all depends on what situation you are in. Would I rather use my smartwatch or my phone’s stopwatch? The stopwatch on my wrist is what I prefer if I’m moving.

Alarm Clock: Some smartwatches, such as the Apple watch, have alarms that can be set on the watch. The built-in speakers and vibrating vibrations on the watch will get you up. Smartwatches often don’t come with built-in speakers, so you can rely on the vibration. Although the vibration doesn’t usually wake me up, it can be useful if I need to set an alarm to remind me to go somewhere.
2. Smart features

Most smartwatches are capable of showing incoming calls.

Notifications like Calendar Reminders, Emails Twitter etc. Notifications can be looked at and sometimes read on smartwatches. You will usually get notifications from all apps on your phone by default. However, you can also choose to block certain apps. I prefer to only notify the apps I want, such as my Whatsapp and calendar.

You can use Siri to set reminders and remind you. Reminders can be synced across devices.

A smartwatch can provide navigation, turn-by-turn navigation and directions. It’s possible, so why not? The Apple Watch provides a discreet way to direct you. Instead of having arrows and a map, it vibrates in different ways to indicate whether you need to turn left or right. This would be a great tool for tourists as I would not have to stare at a map. It would also let me enjoy the surroundings and not feel like I was a tourist.

You can use Find My Phone to locate your phone by pressing a button on your smartwatch. This will cause your smartphone to set an alarm, even if it’s on silent, and you will be able to find it easily.

Contactless Payment with Apple Pay, Android Pay and Garmin Pay allows you to pay for purchases using your watch. These mobile payment systems can be used with contactless payment readers, so you can pay for purchases without your phone or card. It should work in any store that accepts contactless payments.
3. Features and benefits that are health-related

Many smartwatches integrate all of the functionality that we used to have in our fitness trackers. You can track your heart rate, sleep quality, time, and activity to improve your health.

Hours Sleeped and Quality of Sleep – The smartwatch’s accelerometer, Gyro and heart rate monitors can measure sleep quality and hours. Different manufacturers have different algorithms that track sleep quality and time with different degrees of success. My experience shows that the best ones can tell when I’ve fallen asleep and when I’ve woken up. The Polar Nighly Recharge, which I recently reviewed, is my favorite feature for measuring sleep. It can give you a score for your night’s recharge and make recommendations for training based on that.

Heart rate measurement – Many smartwatches today come with heart rate monitors, which can be used to measure your heart rate directly from your wrist. There are many benefits to measuring your heart rate. This allows you to monitor your heart rate while you exercise, allowing you the opportunity to stay in a zone that increases your fitness level. Artificial Intelligence may also be able detect certain types of abnormal heart rhythms by measuring heart rate.

Your resting heart rate is an indicator of your general fitness level. Some devices can even calculate your fitness age based upon your measurements.

ECG, or electrocardiogram, is now available on certain smartwatches such as the Apple Watch Series 4. This feature provides more precise heart rate measurements as well as more data to detect potential heart-related issues.

Smartwatches now have a new feature that measures blood pressure. This feature was first made available to the Omron HeartGuide Smartwatch in January 2019. FDA approval was also granted to Omron’s smartwatch for measuring oscillometric blood pressure.

The accelerometer and gyroscope of smartwatches can detect falls. Apple Watch, for example, can detect a fall and place an emergency call.

Emergency SOS, an additional feature on the Apple Watch that allows you to call for help from your smartwatch, is available at minimum.

Step counter is a standard feature for smartwatches or fitness trackers that measures your steps and notifies you when you have reached your daily goal.

Smartwatches often calculate calories, burned calories and other parameters based on activity such as steps and running. It also takes into account the measurements taken during these activities.

Many smartwatches have sports features that allow you to track your runs, swims, cycles, strength training, and other activities. Garmin smartwatches are well-known for their multisport capabilities and highly accurate measurements of sports activities.
Sensors are used in health monitoring features

Although GPS positioning isn’t yet standard, it will soon. GPS was not available on smartphones a few years ago, but they now do. Smartwatches will also have GPS. Many devices also support the Galileo and Glonas positioning systems. GPS is vital for tracking outdoor activities such as running, hiking, and cycling. It allows you to get accurate readings of your speed as well to display your activities on a map.

This is used to measure movement and implement the step counter. It can also detect movement in relation to sleep tracking, etc.

The Gyroscope is used to track rotation. It is also useful in tracking swimming, for example.

This wrist-based heart rate monitor is used to track your heart beat.

Thermometer, Compass, and Barometric Altimeter. It is useful for monitoring your elevation and can be used in conjunction with the thermometer and compass.
